Flickr I find too complicated and when I lost my password, just couldn't seem to get back on. Photoshop I can't afford and it isn't useful as a catologue, Lightroom I do use for B&W, but not for quick and easy editing and general cataloguing. I've tried all of these, except shotwell as I don't use Ubuntu, and always come back to Picasa for everyday all around usefulness. You can easily search features of all these apps on internet. Some of them you can try are:įlickr, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Xn View MP, shotwell and many more. These applications are based according to latest trend. There are many alternatives available for Google Picasa.
These are the reasons I use Picasa on my desktop, and Google Photos has nothing to offer for this. Google Photos is a fine place to store photos to share with people and share albums.

They are just getting away from a separate application. Just upload your photos and create an album. Google Photos is the same thing and you don't need an application to run it. The change could signal the beginning of a plan to migrate Picasa users over to the newer Google Photos web service.
